This is not an inspection, simply a way we can engage with both the service and the service users to gather everyone’s views.

We then compile a report highlighting what is done well and making recommendations on where it might be improved.

Enter and View volunteers have undertaken specialist training along with a DBS check and are authorised to enter on behalf of Healthwatch North Somerset.

Staff and volunteers standing together

As part of the "Enter and View" role authorised representatives can

  1. Visit a health or social care premise at a time and date pre-agreed with the premise

  2. Collect the views of the service user

  3. Collect the views from families, carers and staff members

  4. Observe the nature and quality of services

  5. Develop recommendations to improve the service and influence commissioners
