Celvedon community hospital refurbishment

The Old Street facility’s inpatients ward was closed in March following a 2014 Care Quality Commission (CQC) report which raised concerns over dampness and the safety of its floor.

NHS Property Services is now on site to begin the replacement of the floor and re-decoration of the ward to make it more welcoming for patients. General maintenance and fire safety improvements will also be carried out to the building.

Julian Alexander, senior construction manager at NHS Property Services, said: “We are delighted that works to improve the inpatient facilities have commenced and are progressing well.

The improvement works will ensure the building meets the necessary safety and legislative requirements for patients and staff.

“We look forward to sharing more information with the local community as the programme of work continues.”
