Enter and view report published for New Court Surgery

Healthwatch North Somerset carried out an enter and view on New Court Surgery on the 29th January and has today published the report including all their findings

During the visit the representatives kept a record of all their observations of the building, the reception area, the waiting room and the information displayed. These included

  • The internal standard of decoration, flooring, signs, waiting area, reception and treatment rooms were good and well designed
  • A few minor points were noticed and discussed with the practice manager during the visit such as a loose toilet door handle which was causing a draft across some chairs in the waiting area
  • There is wheelchair access and automatic doors on the entrance
  • Reception had three members of staff on it and patients waited no more than a couple of minutes to talk to a receptionist.
  • Hand sanitiser is next to the electronic sign in machine
  • Two main waiting rooms both with plenty of seats
  • In the main waiting room, due to the position of some seats it could be difficult to maneuver a wheelchair or pushchair.
  • The waiting rooms were bright and well lit.
  • Patients had access to information should they wish to make a complaint.

All the recommendations are based on observations and findings during our report (Full observations are listed in the full report below). Some of our recommendations to help the surgery improve the service it offers its patients include

  1. Continuing the replacement of heavily worn chairs
  2. Developing an up-to-date list of frequently asked questions for use on the pracice website
  3. To review the out of hours pages on the website and offer links to external websites for example North Somerset Out Of Hours or NHS 111
  4. Update complaints page to include a downloadable form

We received no reponse from Milton Surgery with respect of these recommendations.
