Staff have been helping to prepare the hospital for this work so we can reopen our doors at the earliest opportunity and continue delivering exceptional care in a safe environment.

NHS Property Services own the building and are working to appoint a project manager; once this has been completed the scheduled works will be issued for tender. Once the contractor has been appointed, work will begin to bring our inpatients facility up to date.

Karen Cole, Head of Operations, Inpatients, Rehabilitation and Specialist Older People’s Team said:

“We are delighted that things are moving forward as planned and we are looking forward to seeing those things highlighted in our CQC report put right and made safe. Of course in a clinical environment these things take time and we have to ensure the right people are carrying out the work to the high standards we expect so we do not have to repeat any unnecessary works causing further disruption in the future.”

We have been told by NHS Property Services that the timescale for these works is likely to be three months and then further decoration works will be completed for our official re-opening.

Joanne Beer, Interim Director of Operations at NSCP said:

"We appreciate these works are going to take some time but we would rather over estimate and ensure the facility is brought up to standard without time pressures than re-open quickly meaning all works are not completed to the standards we require. We know this is frustrating but looking forward this means our patients will receive care in an environment much more suitable for their needs.”

We will keep you up to date with developments and look forward to welcoming patients once again.
