What are the signs of a good care home?

Working with older people, their families and care experts, the charity Independent Age has developed a set of quality indicators which a local Healthwatch in Camden helped test during their visits to local care homes.

At Healthwatch North Somerset we use ‘Enter & View’ to gather intelligence from places such as local care homes. It is not an inspection but is another way in which we are able to engage with the community to gain your views and experiences of services and then make recommendations based on this. It is a lay perspective and it is not intended to be a substitute for formal inspection and regulation.

Our visits aim to provide an informed view of the quality and scope of health and adult social care services provided for the residents of North Somerset. Recommendations for improvement will be backed by evidenced based reports. Healthwatch North Somerset will proactively seek to build good relationships with providers of health and adult social care services.
