Scam email over COVID 19 tax return

Avon & Somerset Police have asked people to note that there is a scam email circulating advising that you are entitled to a tax refund of £128.34

Although they have not said who the email will be from, please ensure you are extremely cautious with any emails stating you are owed a tax refund.

The email states that this is a precautionary measure in cooperation with National Insurance and National Health Services, It is NOT. It goes on to suggest the funds can help protect yourself against COVID-19 and to access the funds now by clicking on the blue hyperlink, Please DO NOT do this.

North Wales Police have advised this has already cost the public more than £800,000 in a month and to contact Action Fraud for advice on: 0300 123 2040

If in doubt over any emails you can always check their validity by contacting HMRC directly.

If you have any questions please contact us and we will put you in touch with either HMRC or Action Line
