What is your role as a volunteer for Healthwatch North Somerset?

I do office support work two mornings a week. The role includes entering information onto their databases, answering calls, monitoring petty cash, and general office administration tasks such as photocopying, filing, binding and shredding.

What inspired you to start volunteering with Healthwatch?

At the end of my employment, I had time to spare and some office skills that I thought I could put to good use. Volunteering is a good way to keep active and learn something new. I looked around and found Healthwatch North Somerset.

What do you enjoying about being a Healthwatch volunteer?

I enjoy the contact with the team of hard working staff. The variety of work is interesting and there are several opportunities to engage with other volunteers at meetings. I have also attended some engagement events where I got the opportunity to get feedback from members of the public.

Do you have a favourite moment from volunteering?

Don't really have any one favourite moment as such, but I really enjoy being part of the team.

What would you say to people who are thinking about volunteering for Healthwatch?

Volunteering is fun and rewarding. Don't hesitate. Give it a try.
