Men's weight loss scheme

North Somerset Council is proud to announce the return of the leading men’s weight loss organisation MAN v FAT to help the area’s men beat fat and get healthy, following a successful pilot last year.

There are more than 20 million overweight and obese men in the UK. Despite the diet industry’s focus on women, weight is actually more of an issue for men with 67 per cent of men being overweight or obese compared with 56 per cent of women.

The pilot scheme reached over 80 men whose ages ranged from 20 to 87. Over the course of the 12 week programme the men were given free resources and information that helped them make healthier choices. They also got round-the-clock support from www.manvfat.com. The impact of the course was striking:

–       the men lost 118kg over the course

–       the groups averaged between 3kg and 6kg weight loss

–       the men reported blood pressure readings going from high to normal

–       sleep apnoea and snoring were cured or improved

–       the men lost two metres from their waists.

Sam Hayward, obesity specialist for North Somerset Council said: “As a council we want to do everything we can to help our residents to get healthy. Working with MAN v FAT will help us to reach more men and get support to them for their journey towards a healthier future. We were thrilled with the results of the pilot which is why we have no hesitation about asking them to come back.”

Places on the scheme are limited so any men in North Somerset who want to secure their place on the free MAN v FAT scheme should call 0800 020 9535 or email weston@manvfat.com and join over 300,000 men who already get healthy with MAN v FAT.
