PPG meeting with new companies for weston surgery contracts

The PPG committee that represents around 15,000 registered patients, has released details of the new contract provider, Pier Health and how it plans to proceed.

Pier Health, which will take over the two surgeries on June 17, is a partnership of established GPs, that according to the PPG, is recognised by Bristol North Somerset and South Gloucestershire Clinical Commissioning Group, as being successful in providing medical services in the Weston area.

The Clinical Commissioning Group is urgently arranging to maintain access to both surgeries in the immediate future. An update is also being sought on the new purpose-built medical centre planned for the people of central Weston.

Pier Health plans to introduce askmyGP software to provide online access to treatment and consultations where appropriate. The organisation also intends to work directly with specialist homes and social need groups, such as mental health, in the community.

The chairman of the PPG, Laurie Fineman, says any questions and issues arising from the takeover should be raised with him on larence@sterwick.co.uk

The PPG does not get involved in personal issues.
