What is Improving Access to Psychological Therapies?

The Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) programme began in 2008 as a way of treating adult anxiety disorders and depression in England.

How do they work?

Evidence-based psychological therapies: with the therapy delivered by fully trained practitioners, matched to the mental health problems including depression and anxiety. The treatment is designed to be as thorough and long as a patient needs to bring about the best outcome.

What will change?

A redesign of the local service has been pledged by Vita Health, as well as improvements in the way people in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire access their support. The new approach will also see a focus on causes of mental ill health, as well as treatments, for a more comprehensive service for patients.

Vita Health Group is now working with service partners Bluebell Care Trust and Windmill Hill City Farm, and other providers in the local authority and voluntary and community sectors.

If you are interested in this new service you can get in touch directly with Vita Health to arrange some help.

As with all new services in North Somerset we would always love to hear your views and experiences. Your story of care could make a positive difference to the way services are run in North Somerset.
