Research looking at families who have similar circumstances and comparing those with a disability in the family were worse off than those who didn't have a child with a disability.

This report reminds us of the significant disadvantages faced by many people with severe mental illnesses (SMI) – with difficulties in gaining and keeping employment, in maintaining stable relationships and receiving a decent income.
